Thank you Richard for this great blog - I greatly enjoy reading it. I watched this presentation just now and it was quite informative - thank you for posting it.
One thing that fascinates me is how quickly some of these amazing buildings were built for that time period. For example, both the library and the Athearn hotel were built in about one year. That just blows my mind. I'm curious if you've come across any drawings, photos, newspaper articles, or anything that would show more details about the construction of these buildings. I have a really hard time finding anything. Like how many people worked on this, how were the materials transported, how was the ground excavated, etc. These seem like they would be massive projects even today.
